My training background gives me extensive experience in the clinical management of patients with stroke. I am board certified by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology in both clinical Neurology and Vascular neurology. In my role as the Stroke director at Hauenstein Neuroscience Center, Grand Rapids, Michigan I am actively participating in the care of such patients every day and coordinate their care with primary care physicians. We have primary stroke center certification through the Joint Commission. We provide comprehensive stroke care care and serving as a tertiary care referral center in West Michigan.
We are actively involved in the clinical research. Our stroke team is working on several research projects including the use of SyphagmoCor in stroke prevention and the use of iPAD technology in stroke patients with aphasia and severe dysarthria. We are also participating in other various NIH and industry sponsored trials such as POINT, MILE STONE study and RESPECT ESUS trial. Our stroke program is a part of NIH StrokeNet in collaboration with the University of Michigan.
